- Turai is the younger brother to Shanku's mother. He was exiled at the age of fourteen when he challenged Vicomte to a fight over his sister and lost. He wandered bitterly until he happened across a hidden cove south of the Nyre. There he met the crew of the Brelland Seacat and soon joined them. He is fast friends with the ship's cat, Ryoichi.
