Grubber travelled to visit his friend who was staying in Port Tephras. He had met her years ago when she and her family were passing through as part of one of her father's military assignments. They were living there now as he worked on his current assignment, and Shanku's mother had invited him to stay in their guest room while he was in town. Shanku was excited to have him visiting and showed him some of her books. It was winter and she had school in the mornings, and told him he was welcome to her bookshelf while she was in class. Grubber was a simple goblin who couldn't read very well and preferred picture books. Shanku had a few that had several pictures on one page without much text, and he enjoyed those the most. However, a few in Shanku's collections were not what he expected.
"What... what this?" Grubber asked in slowly dawning horror after he had flipped through the whole comic book.
"Cripes, Grubber, I told you not to browse the comics without me! Goblins is not something you should read! Yeah, it's about some really awesome goblins that overcome long odds, but a lot of bad stuff happens, too. Give me that! Here, this one is about cute, talking animals. It's one of Banhi's favorites! She may be a baby, but she knows what she likes!"
Written for Artober.
I tossed around a few ideas for this one. Katari explaining to Niku what was in Sylvan sausage and kind of hitting all the checkboxes for his dietary taboos. Hilael mixing herbs as Katari, Shanku, and Ina quivered in fear before it being applied to them. Ina or Katari choking down one of Hilael's blood-restoring salads. Shanku fully realizing that she sank her teeth into a ghoul's asshole. Then another idea came to mind of Modern JAD and if kindly little Grubber came across something brutal like Goblins. I really enjoy it, but, dang, does it get gruesome sometimes, and I'm not just talking about the blood. I can also see now why Hawk once said that JAD moves relatively quickly for a webcomic.
