What's in a name?
These days when I make a new character I do an internet search to make sure it's not already a real name or real word that may have negative connotations. Search engines still had a long way to go in 2004 and I never bothered checking Kanta's name. Fellatio, eh? Alternatively, as a name, Sanskrit for "desired, beautiful, lovely", and a name for Lord Vishnu, the Preserver. Shanku, as mentioned, can be "arrow", "dart", or "Lord Shiva, The Destroyer", or a zillion other things along similar lines. I am intrigued that when I tried making up names I twice landed the lead character in India. Heh, Shanku, the Destroyer, always stirring up trouble, and then there's Kanta, the Preserver, trying to save his home... and dignity.

Okay, upon closer inspection on the back of the original drawing, it was June eighteenth, not the eighth. But, hey, she's still technically a Gemini. ![]()
