Drené is the daughter of a passing Long Ear explorer and an Islander. While she is welcome in both of her parents' houses, she prefers to stay alone. She makes her living herding large birds and selling them. None ask questions about her unusually marked wings since the Islander Kurach commonly dye their feathers. Yet she still feels that she is constantly being judged in a poor light and she is aggressive to those she doesn't know.
