Saryria

In May 2004, I set out with the goal of writing a book within a year, because at the time I hadn't seen anybody do that and thought it would be neat if I could. Heh. So naïve. In 2006 I revised it and smoothed the writing. Did it again in 2008, and I renamed the book from "Fight for Saryria" to "Wings of Vengeance", with an intended sequel of "Wings of Hope". Then I was too tired and uninspired to continue the two-year tradition and let it simmer on a very far away backburner. It now rests in a simple folder labeled "Saryria" and the name may never progress beyond that.

After so many years, I'm even more critical of it than I am of more recent endeavours. Pacing errors, run-on sentences, bizarre and careless misspellings, nearly everything written in a passive voice, plot ideas and actions I can't even begin to justify... Regardless, it still holds a fond place for me. Perhaps my favourite of all of the bits of bad writing is: "Tentavily moving, the large... whatever the crap it was, came closer and nuzzled his hand." A care, I did not give!

However, upon further inspection, there is still a lot of potential in Saryria, and I will be pulling it into the JAD family. Seeing as how it takes places in JAD's first Copper Age, it will need heavy revisions. Until then, enjoy it as it was originally scribbled.
